Titanium 6AL-4V Fasteners

A standard titanium bolt, 64 titanium alloy (Ti-6AL-4V) bolt. It is a titanium alloy containing 6% aluminum (AL) and 4% vanadium (V) by mass. It is a lightweight material with higher strength and ductility than pure titanium, so it is also used in the aircraft and space industries.

Titanium has excellent corrosion resistance because it forms a stable passivation film on the surface by oxidation, but there is a potential difference on the surface where more or less different metals come into contact.

If the potential difference is small or the environment is dry, you do not need to worry too much, but if you are exposed to rain (acid rain) outdoors, you need to be careful.

Metals with low potential corrode and elute.

If the titanium plate is fixed with stainless steel screws, the stainless steel will corrode between titanium and stainless steel, so the stainless steel screws may corrode due to electrolytic corrosion.
